El Congeuro from the Bronx Print

$30.00

This print is of the painting El Congeuro from the Bronx. The painting is a dedication to my Puerto Rican father, who is from the South Bronx and who I watched play the congas growing up in the Lower East Side. Throughout his apartment you’ll find different instruments, the Puerto Rican liberation flag in Turquoise. Showcased in this painting are two congas painted with this very flag. In the background, Yucahu (the Taino Son god) presides over the congas.  Portraits of indigenous chiefs hangs right above his alter and his congas are placed right by his convertible chair. My families love for their culture and music is representative of Puerto Ricans as well as other Caribbean people’s experience.
